Alec joined Art UK as a Project Officer in 2018. Before making the move, he worked as a writer and editor, with bylines appearing in membership magazines for the Royal Photographic Society, Historic Scotland, and the National Trust for Scotland.

He is a graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, where he studied Environmental Art. He continues to make and exhibit work, with a focus on 3D animation, motion graphics, and not losing his fingertips while linocut printmaking.
