Carolyn Leder is a recognised scholar on Stanley Spencer, and has been a long-standing Trustee of the Stanley Spencer Gallery, for which she has written many exhibition catalogues. Other publications include an essay in the Arts Council’s Stanley Spencer exhibition catalogue (1976), a book on Spencer’s 'Scrapbook' drawings (Stanley Spencer: The Astor Collection, Thomas Gibson Publishing Ltd, 1976) and an introduction to ‘The Holy Box’: The Genesis of Stanley Spencer’s Sandham Memorial Chapel, Sansom & Co., 2017. She is Consultant to three volumes of Spencer writings, edited by John Spencer. The first volume, Stanley Spencer: Looking to Heaven (Unicorn Press Ltd, 2016), was launched at Tate Britain. She has also acted as Historical Adviser to BBC Television and Arts Council Spencer films.
