Christoph Martin Vogtherr studied art history in Berlin, Heidelberg and Cambridge. He has worked in Berlin, then at the Wallace Collection in London and is now director of the Hamburger Kunsthalle. His main areas of research are French eighteenth-century art and history of art collecting.
