Neil McGregor is the Assistant manager (Art, Exhibitions and Outreach) for Heritage Doncaster. His early love of painting and drawing was stimulated by visits to the New Walk Museum in Leicester, where he remembers drawing from the wondrous collection of stuffed animals.
He studied painting at Norwich School of Art, where tutors included Edward Middleditch and John Lessore. After leaving college he taught painting and drawing as a guest artist in schools and at Doncaster College, before taking on his current role around ten years ago.
His passion is for twentieth-century British art, in particular the work of the Camden Town Group of painters, and he continues to make his own paintings from his freezing cold garden studio!
