Kyffin Williams: Behind the Frame

Gregynog Gallery, 16 February 2018 – 1 September 2018

"It is ironic that I am the most loved & most honoured Welsh artist of all time & yet I am hated by the art world."
Kyffin Williams

Gregynog Gallery presents an exhibition to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the defining Welsh artists of the twentieth century – Sir Kyffin Williams.

Kyffin's style has become the epitome of the Welsh nation, and his work a definition of Welshness. On display will be his iconic impasto landscapes of Wales and vigorous portraits of local and national personalities. There will also be an opportunity to view Kyffin's lesser-known works previously unseen by the public, which include his preparatory drawings, sketchbooks and archive material.
