Alfred James Munnings (1878–1959)
Munnings was an English painter (and very occasional sculptor), and he was a specialist in depicting horses. He was at the height of his popularity in the interwar years, when he was often invited to grand country houses to paint the owners with their horses.
His work can be seen at Castle House, Dedham, Essex, his home from 1919, which his widow converted into The Munnings Art Museum.
