Reproduction framed print of Under Windsor Bridge on the Irwell, Manchester by Adolphe Valette. An interesting point to note is that this painting incorrectly identifies Windsor Bridge when in fact it is the Irwell Street Bridge. The painting depicts a smog-filled scene from industrial Manchester with a view of a ‘Mersey Flat’ transport barge travelling along the River Irwell. The dark figure of a man stands on the bank looking at the boat passing by.
The bridge has open ironwork and arches typical of the industrial era. You can see the bridge reflected in the surface of the river.
