About the collection
The Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) specialise in working with adult and non-traditional learners. Madingley Hall is the home to ICE and hosts of many of the Institute's residential and non-residential courses. Many of pictures and other items on view at Madingley Hall relate to the history of the Hall or to that of The University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education. Most of the portraits are owned by the University of Cambridge but some have been donated or are on loan through the generosity of the descendants of the Hynde Cotton family who built and lived in the Hall for 328 years. The Institute is very grateful for the opportunity to display these pictures.
Not all paintings are on display. If you wish to see a particular painting, please contact the collection.
