More about

City Lit is London's ultimate destination for inspiring courses for adults which includes a substantial Visual Arts course offer from which most of the artworks have originated. The collection contains 22 pieces of artwork, in different media, relevant to the outstanding achievements of City Lit staff and students acquired over a period of 77 years, starting with students’ donation of a portrait of Principal T. G. Williams in 1935. Each year we examine new work appearing in various student and staff exhibitions that we hold in-house and acquire work where space allows. In May 2005, City Lit moved to a £21m building in Covent Garden. Designed by award-winning architects Allies and Morrisson and 100 per cent accessible, the building provides some of the best adult education facilities in London. Paintings in the collection include contemporary works such as ‘Til Death' by Wendy Elia and 'Slow Delivery of the Truth' (Parts 1 and 2) by Dan Parnell, alongside the traditional portrait of T. G. Williams by Walter Earnest Webster.
