Come along to the Cynon Valley Museum to discover the incredible history of the people who worked and lived here. We also display beautiful wall-mounted and 3D art in our two temporary exhibition spaces, all produced by locally based artists. Marty's at the Museum, the onsite cafe, provides barista coffee, homemade cakes and delicious lunches. The Museum stands in front of the remaining furnaces and next to the blowing-engine house for the Gadlys Ironworks, founded in 1827 by Matthew Wayne. The current Grade II-listed building was renovated in 1995 and existed originally as a wagon repair shop (built 1876–1897) which replaced the ironworks' casting house. There are four furnaces behind the museum which are now a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The Museum is now run by the Cynon Valley Museum Trust, an independent charity which receives no statutory funding towards the operation of the Museum. The historic collection is under the guardianship of the local authority.
