About the venue
The Mansion House in Doncaster is one of only three such buildings in the country. A grade 1 listed building, it was completed in 1748 to designs by James Paine, and between then and 1922 it acted as residence to the incumbent Mayor of Doncaster. Completed in the Palladian style and comparable to the Mansion Houses of London and York, it was created as a centre of civic life . Although there have been some minor changes to the original design of the building, the original interior features have been retained, and within the rooms many impressive artefacts and paintings are displayed which serve to illustrate local and national culture and society during the last 250 years.
