Following a dramatic refurbishment, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery is now open. One of Edinburgh's most iconic buildings, the Gallery now offers 17 new displays, exploring the story of Scotland through a wealth of imagery. Featuring traditional and contemporary works, portraits of key figures include Mary, Queen of Scots, Bonnie Prince Charlie, Robert Burns and Walter Scott, through to pioneering scientists, female revolutionaries and modern playwrights. These superb works are on show in glorious new spaces, from the suite of grand top-lit galleries to smaller intimate rooms, contemporary spaces to the charming Victorian Library. The Gallery also features a shop, cafe, reading spaces, and a touch-screen gallery.

We love #IWD2021 so much that we're dedicating a whole week to it. Self-taught artist Samira Addo kicks off our celebrations. In 2018, Addo won the @SkyArts #PortraitArtistOfTheYear. We purchased her portrait of @emelisande in 2019. Learn more here https://t.co/hP6Vv9XSwq https://t.co/M0MSoURL0A
